Traditionally, foods at this time of year included seeds that had been collected from the last season along with fresh water fish, frogs and turtles. As the season progresses, the nights become damper along with some cool and rainy days. Traditional mia mias (houses or shelters) were repaired and waterproofed at this time, in readiness for the deep wintery months ahead.
