Djilba is a transitional time of the year, with some very cold, clear days combined with warmer, rainy and windy days mixed with the occasional sunny day or two. This is the start of the massive flowering explosion that happens in the South West. This starts with the yellow Acacias and the many delicate orchids. The woodland birds will still be nest bound, hence the swooping protective nature of the Magpie (Koorlbardi) and the Willy Wagtails (Djiti Djiti). It is a beautiful time of year to visit Perth.
